Sanindusa’s Reforestation Action in Tocha
"100 volunteers who took part in this action"
March 26th 2022 will be forever associated with the reforestation campaign “Criar Raízes”. This initiative was organised by Sanindusa within the scope of the International Day of Forests in partnership with the Forest Protection Office of the Cantanhede Municipality. This activity took place in Tocha with the goal of recovering part of the area burnt in the 2017 fires.
The 100 volunteers who took part in this action planted 1026 stone pines in an area of 5 hectares which surround the company’s facilities. The team spirit and will of every participant to recover the lost flora contributed to the regeneration of that area’s ecosystem.
The participants, which consisted in a few Sanindusa’s employees and their family members, were welcomed by the organization with words of appreciation and also received a kit “Criar Raízes” composed by very practical items allusive to the event – a t-shirt, a waterproof panama hat, a glass bottle and a backpack.
This event was part of the company’s sustainability policy in order to raise awareness for the importance of restoring burnt forests. All of us can contribute to minimising or reversing environmental disasters and ensuring the continuity of future generations.
